Vision Correction Laboratory

The Vision Correction Laboratory makes personalized (hard or soft) contact lenses within 2 day period as well as offers all kinds of lens care products.

History

Vision correction and eye individual prosthetics laboratory was established in 1957. It was the first this kind of laboratory in Latvia. Later, by a decree from Moscow such laboratories where established in Moscow, Kiev and Leningrad.

Optician Eizens Jurjans was a significant asset to the development of the laboratory, he set up the necessary premises and the machinery for the laboratory.  The first Head of the laboratory was Remo Skrickis.

On January 15, 1958, the first contact lenses in Riga were produced in this laboratory, using the PMMA material.
