The Central Laboratory employs 75 specialists and performs 178 different types of laboratory testing.
The Microbiology and Serology unit performs all types of microbiological and serological examinations.
The Biochemical unit offers testing for thyroid gland infections, as well as tests to establish hormone, glucose, protein, antibody, albumen, electrolyte and other metal proportions in the body.
The Cytology unit offers every type cytological examination.
The Central Laboratory is equipped with the newest laboratory equipment, providing the best test results. Our methods provide qualified, reliable and fast results so you can proceed with your treatment as soon as possible.
History
The first laboratory tests at the Hospital where performed in 1914. After the 2nd World War the Hospital Laboratory was extended, and in 1946 a microbiology and serology laboratory, in 1949 – a biochemistry laboratory, and later in 1964 – a cytology laboratory were added. On professors A.Sočņevs inactive in 1986 the Hospital established the first HIV/AIDS laboratory in Latvia.
Today the Central Laboratory is a significant structural unit, and provides laboratory testing for the most of the Hospital`s clinics and other institutions all trough out Latvia.
